David Wilde

 

Born in Manchester, England, 1935, first public performance, 1941. Studies in piano and composition under Solomon and Reizenstein 1945/47. Later studies with Iso Elinson and composition with Richard Hall. Studies in repertoire and composition with Nadia Boulanger, 1963/64 and 1968. Competition successes include Equal First Prize, Budapest International Liszt-Bartok Competition,1961, and the First Queen's Prize, London, 1962. Subsequent international career has included performances with world class orchestras under famous conductors (Barbirolli, Boulez, etc.), solo recitals, chamber music. Recordings include Schumann's Fantasy op. 17 and Liszt's Sonata, Thomas Wilson's Piano Concerto and the complete Beethoven Sonatas for Piano. David Wilde has been Professor of piano in Hanover since 1981. Compositions include a Piano Trio, a String Quartet, and a series of works concerned with the tragedy of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
