David Geringas

                                                      

He comes from a musical family in Lithuania. He had his 50th birthday in July 1996. The cellist and conductor has an unusually vast repertory of music beginning with baroque music leading to modern music. In 1970 he won the first prize of the Tchaikovsky competition. His successful career began after he had moved to West Germany in 1975. As a concert soloist David Geringas has had performances with the great international orchestras and worked for conductors like Kyrill Kondrashin. Geringas is not only a soloist and a professor at the music academy in Lilbeck but he is also a many-sided chamber musician. He received the well respected Grand Prix du Disque of the Aca&mie Charles Cros because for his recording of the 12 cello concerts by Boccerini.
