Pianist
James Tocco has established a world-wide career as soloist with orchester,
recitals, chamber music performer and pedagogue. His repertoire of over 50
works with orchestra includes virtually the entire standard piano concerto
catalogue. James Tocco was born in Detroit of italien parents. From his
earliest childhood he showed great love for music, especially opera. At six he began
piano lessons, and first appeared with orchestra at the age of twelve. His
musical training was completed with Claudio Arrau in New York. Mr. Tocco first
came to international prominence by winning first prize at the International
ARD Competition in Munich in 1973.
Several LP and CD recordings attest to James Tocco's musical
versatility. Since 1990 he is Professor of Piano at the Musikhochschule in
Lübeck.
